Pregnancy Yoga
Pregnancy Yoga classes
provide women with a safe environment in which to explore their feelings and to
adapt to the changes in their bodies. Yoga can provide a constant thread of stability.
The principles of yoga include balance, awareness and respect. Women are empowered
to feel confident in their ability to give birth. Yoga postures and movements will
provide more space for the baby and alleviate many pregnancy discomforts. Every
class ends with a deep relaxation allowing the body to release tensions and the
mind to become still. Both mother and baby are nourished and energy is renewed.
Benefits
- Promotes general health to mother and baby
- Expands breathing, expanding
lung capacity
- Increases flexibility and mobility
- Helps to gain confidence
for the birth
- Calms the mind and the emotions
- Bonding with your baby
What the classes cover
Our Pregnancy Yoga classes in Cambridge will include yoga sequences
specifically adapted for pregnancy and movements to alleviate discomforts and renew
energy. Breathing techniques and relaxation skills are taught and there is time
for discussion in a relaxed and friendly environment. It is recommended to join
from 16 weeks onward and you can continue until the birth of your baby.
Sally was awarded 'Best Antenatal Class'
in the Local Award section of the 2008 What's On 4 Little Ones?
awards
Comments from parents voting at the awards: "Sally is a truly inspirational
antenatal yoga teacher who has made an enormous difference to my pregnancy. Her
approach is incredibly holistic, preparing the mother not just physically but also
mentally and emotionally. Her classes include yoga moves, breathing techniques to
help with labour, good birth positions, time for meeting other mothers and much
much more. She teaches with humour and from the heart. It is obvious that she uses
her own experience and that of teaching pregnant women over the years to enrich
each class. Many of us speak of coming out of class feeling so much more energised,
however difficult our day or week has been. I would describe my class as a sacrosanct
two hours in the week when I can escape work/ home/ family for two hours and really
connect with my bump. The very high return rate to Sally's classes is a further
testament to her skills. I hope that she can be recognised for her amazing work
as she not only teaches her class but trains others as well."

How to find the Physic Centre
From Cambridge take the Huntington rd out of town and turn right to Girton. Continue
through the centre and as you leave the village look for the sign for Physic on
your left. It is down a small driveway between the Barn Health club and the Breath
warehouse. There is plenty of parking.
